Internship: PR + Communications: Tribeca Film Festival

The TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL Publicity office is looking for creative, hardworking individuals that have a strong interest in publicity for film/TV/VR and film festivals for the 2018 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL. Previous experience working in public relations – preferably entertainment/film PR– preferred. Must be able to work in the US.

The Tribeca Film Festival was launched to celebrate New York City as a major filmmaking center and to contribute to the long-term recovery of lower Manhattan. Today the Festival is a celebration of storytelling - including film, television, vr, new online work, and gaming - and a critical place to discover breakout talent. The Festival celebrates creative expression, independent filmmaking, and immersive entertainment through the championing of emerging and established voices. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Interns are an integral part of the publicity team. Responsibilities include: 

  • Draft fact sheets, recap sheets, press kits and press breaks and press pitches
  • Research niche media for outreach 
  • Create theme sheets and press materials for press lounge 
  • Coordinate materials from films requested from the Festival 
  • Supervise/media check-in for press screenings during the festival 
  • Assist with press events, parties, interviews, press junkets, red carpets and other film activities
  • Assist with pre-festival press screenings, media check-in and reporting  
  • Liaise with credentialed press to ensure their press coverage needs are met 
  • Support festival publicity team with their day-to-day needs as assigned throughout the entirety of the internship 

WORK SCHEDULE 

You should expect to five 8-hour days (Monday – Friday)  during the hours of 10am to 6pm in the structured activities in our office in the months leading up to the festival. During the festival window interns will be required to work 7 days a week (weekends and evenings) as needed. On-the-job training will occur daily at the direction of your supervisor or designee in the department.

COMPENSATION: Minimum Wage/Hr 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate for this internship will have had some schooling in the communications or film studies fields. Excellent writing ability is a key competency in this internship. Skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required as is a general proficiency with computers. Candidates should be savvy with online media and social media platforms. In addition, the successful candidate should be creative, hardworking and responsible recent college grads (‘15, '16, '17) that have a strong interest in publicity, storytelling, and film festivals. 

Ideal candidates must be dedicated, detail-oriented and eager to assist the department’s overall operations. This is a great position for someone with a strong desire to learn the inner-workings of a film festival and get hand on pr experience.

STARTING DATE

The starting date for this fall internship is mid-February 2018 (Exact start date: TBD) until May 4, 2018. 

There are a few internship positions available for the department and one or two may have an earlier start date in January.
